Anita – Certified Dental Assistant
Hi! My name is Anita and I am a chairside assistant to Drs. Slaten and Fury. I have had the pleasure of working with this great team since 2002! Being an assistant allows me to work directly with the doctor and patient so I can focus on the quality of care and comfort you may receive during your treatment.
In 1992, I graduated from the Cleveland Institute of Dental-Medical Assistants and later received my certification. Besides my initial training in restorative and orthodontics, I enjoy the new challenges of endodontics, laser and neuromuscular therapy.
When I am away from the office, I am a licensed EMT and work part-time for the local fire department. On summer weekends, my husband, Woody, and children, Michelene and Trevor, are at the racetrack. We are co-owners of a nostalgic dragster, “Time Bandit,” that runs on nitro methane.
Kristina – Certified Dental Assistant & Expanded Functions Dental Auxiliary
Hi, I’m Kristina and have been a part of our dental team since 1994. I am a Certified Dental Assistant and Expanded Functions Dental Auxiliary (E.F.D.A.). I assist Drs. Slaten and Fury with a variety of tasks, making sure our patients are as comfortable as possible during their stay. I am licensed to place tooth-colored fillings after the doctor prepares the teeth for treatment. My favorite skill is to make people feel better about their smiles with “esthetic” enhancements.
I received my initial training at the Cleveland Institute of Dental Assistants in 1994 and completed my internship program with Drs. Slaten and Fury. In 1998, I attended Case Western Reserve University for the EFDA program and became licensed in 1999.
In my spare time, I enjoy four-wheeling, camping and the great outdoors with my husband and children.
Laura – Appointment Coordinator
Hello! My name is Laura and I am a patient coordinator with the dental team. I’m excited and thankful to be a part of this practice. I enjoy meeting new patients as well as welcoming back existing patients. It is important to me that every individual feels educated, confident and comfortable with the care they receive in our office. I live in the local community with my husband, Michael, and two sons, Jared and Schaffer. I enjoy spending time with family and friends, the arts, games, sporting events and reading.
Lucia – Registered Dental Hygienist
Hi! My name is Lucia. I have been a part of the Perfect-A-Smile team since May 2010. I graduated from Lakeland Community College in 2004 with an Associates of Applied Science degree in Dental Hygiene. In 2009, I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Dental Hygiene from The Ohio State University. As your hygienist, I will do a complete exam of your soft and hard tissues. I will perform a thorough cleaning in a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere to ensure a pleasant experience. I will also provide individualized education for your specific dental needs to help maintain optimum oral health. In my free time I enjoy spending time with friends and family, and my cat, Patches. I also love reading, baking and traveling south in the winter!
Maria – Clinical Assistant
Hello, my name is Maria and have been a part of our dental team since 2005. I am a Clinical Assistant for Drs. Slaten and Fury and help provide the best possible care for our patients where needed. My vision is to become a certified dental assistant and look forward to learning all aspects of dentistry. My gifts are assisting with Orthodontics and In-Office Whitening and helping our patients achieve the smile of their dreams.
I have four wonderful children, three girls and one boy. My husband and I own a paving business and, in our spare time, enjoy camping and spending time with our family and friends.
Miriam – Registered Dental Hygienist and Expanded Functions Dental Auxiliary
Hi! My name is Miriam. I graduated from The Ohio State University in 1995 with a Bachelor of Science degree in dental hygiene. I started working with Drs. Slaten and Fury shortly after I graduated. While studying dental hygiene, I also completed training as an Expanded Functions Dental Auxiliary (E.F.D.A). This training allows me to place tooth-colored bonded fillings, veneers and other remediable tasks. I enjoy practicing both of these skills and look forward to educating and treating you with the most current dentistry available. I am committed to helping you improve your oral health and keeping a healthy smile for a lifetime.
My husband, Mike, and I have been married since 2007 and we now have a cute Labradoodle named Ellie. In my spare time, I enjoy baking, cooking and golfing. My family and I participate in many functions in educating and promoting organ and tissue donation. In 2000, my father received an amazing gift of life with a heart transplant.
Nancy – Patient Coordinator
Hi, my name is Nancy and I am the Patient Coordinator for our Dental Team. I graduated from Miami University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Consumer Service and a minor in Marketing. I enjoy welcoming patients to our friendly office and giving new patients a tour of our wonderful facility. I make every effort to coordinate your visit in a pleasant and efficient way, from start to finish. My varied duties include greeting you upon entering the office, escorting you to the examination room, and scheduling your next appointment. You may see me assisting the clinical team periodically, as I try to coordinate the needs of both the front and back offices. We are committed to work together to create the most positive experience for all our patients.
Once an instructor myself, I now take step aerobics classes from our resident instructor, Dr. Fury! I also enjoy golf, gardening and travel.
Natalie – Financial Coordinator
Hi, my name is Natalie! I graduated from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a specialization in Marketing. I joined the Perfect-A-Smile team in July 2010 as the financial coordinator. I am proud to be part of the dental team, meeting old and new patients, making patients feel welcomed, and helping to create a friendly atmosphere. I am responsible for submitting insurance claims, posting payments and scheduling appointments. My most important role is helping establish and maintain life long relationships between our practice and patients. I was raised in Bainbridge and graduated from Kenston High School. I now live in University Heights with my miniature schnauzer, Gracie. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, shopping, traveling and reading. I am a huge Buckeyes fan and enjoy attending any OSU sporting event. GO BUCKS!
Nicole – Registered Dental Hygienist
Hi, my name is Nicole. I have been with Drs. Slaten and Fury since 1997. I graduated from Lakeland Community College in 1996 with my associate’s degree in dental hygiene. At your dental health visits, I will do a thorough exam of your teeth, gums, soft tissues and TMJ. I will always keep you updated on the latest and best hygiene products to help ensure your good oral health.
I have lived in the Chagrin Valley area all my life. My husband and I have been together since high school and have two beautiful daughters, Sarah and Madeline and two wonderful sons, Daniel and Andrew. We are also dog lovers and own a chocolate lab and a black lab. In my free time, I love spending time with my family and friends, and I enjoy reading and exercising.
